Early Travel Planning Makes for the Best Vacations
The Key to a Great Vacation? Don’t Wait to Plan It
I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer of equal parts adventure and relaxation. My clients and I had been busy planning and taking amazingly fun trips over the last four months. I’d love to tell you all about each one of these great itineraries and destinations, but that could take awhile. So, I’ve chosen one to highlight here – the alluring Tuscany countryside.
Back in May, I bid arrivederci to my clients who explored Tuscany in the most rewarding way by starting in the city of Florence and then experiencing three amazing resorts deep within the Tuscan countryside.
During the 10-month planning process, we dedicated a lot of time to ensuring a strong balance between relaxation/self-care and enjoying Tuscany the way locals do. Various activities and classes were incorporated into their two week stay to give them a true sense of what it feels like to live in this beautiful and culturally-rich part of Italy. And, since we planned far enough out, my clients were able to get all of their top picks of luxury hotels - not to mention, the best schedule for the many activities that we wanted incorporated.
Seeing these breathtaking landscapes and towns was just the beginning of their adventure. This family wanted to really immerse themselves in the local culture. So that they did! Their itinerary not only included revisiting some familiar sites of Florence, but also dedicated ample time to walking the charming city streets, browsing renown Italian stores (who doesn’t love Prada!), learning how to cook with a semi-celebrity chef (you may have seen her on Bobby and Giada in Italy), visiting one of the most exquisitely built wineries in Italy, as well as enjoying Michelin-starred restaurants, horseback riding with a gourmet picnic, and so much more.
And as they traveled between the luxury hotels of The Continentale, Monteverdi Tuscany, Castel Monastero, and finally Borgo Pignano, they were able to stop and explore some of the most authentic and historical villages such as Peinza, Montalcino, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, and Ortezia. Partnering up with a local expert on the region allowed this family to really appreciate the history and architecture of these medieval villages while weaving in stops in local shops, grabbing gelato and stopping for a relaxing lunch while people watching.
A quote from this client:
“There are no words to describe this place (Monteverdi Tuscany). Beyond any dream of ours, the family is more than thrilled to be able to experience this. Thank you so very much for everything. We would never have been able to experience this if it wasn’t for you.” Family of 6 from Sarasota, FL.
It’s clear that everyone is more than ready to travel – so much so, that many of our partners had to stop taking new reservations for the summer months. While this surge in demand has been great for the industry, it led to disappointment for many travelers who didn’t plan ahead.
This is why I can’t stress enough the need to plan as far ahead as possible if you want to get the most out of your future vacations – especially if you aim to get away during peak travel times. So, to help get the ball rolling, I will share in my next communication some ideas for your future vacations for summer of 2023. I am already seeing a high demand for European vacations in the more popular countries such as France, Italy and Greece.
And, while less available there are still a few amazing “last-minute” trips for this fall (if you are looking for weekend get-away) as well as some availability for both winter and spring break destinations. If you are considering traveling during these seasons, please reach out soon.
In the meantime, here is a great example of the type of long weekend escape that I like to seek out for clients. It’s about finding those special places that I know will surprise my clients with unique ways to spend their precious leisure time.
